My first full wedding of 2017 found me heading to the Isle of Harris again, where I was lucky enough to photograph the wedding of Fiona and Iain. I only met Fiona after she contacted me about photographing her wedding, but it turns out her parents live just down the road from me, although Fiona now lives in Glasgow with Iain, who is originally from the west coast of the Scottish mainland. So I didn’t have far to go to get some photographs of Fiona and her folks once they were all ready in their finest.
The ceremony took me to a new (to me) church – the Church of Scotland at Scarista on the Isle of Harris. The lovely big windows let in lots of natural light, which is great for photography. Fiona has family connections to the church, so it was a special place for Fiona and Iain to hold their wedding. The rain came down for most of the day, but that didn’t stop Fiona and Iain making the small trek over the dunes (with Fiona in her bare feet!) for some couple photographs at Luskentyre beach.
The day finished with a reception and dance at Tarbert Community Centre. When I left at 10pm the party had well and truly started and the Gay Gordons were in full swing!
