A day out in The East Neuk of Fife

I visited my brothers in Edinburgh for a few days last week and invited them along for a day out in the East Neuk of Fife, somewhere I’ve wanted to visit and photograph for a while now. It was a lovely, sunny day and not too busy being a weekday in term time.

First up was St Monans – a very picturesque fishing village, with colourful boats, a windmill and an old church – photographic locations don’t get much better than this!

Next was Pittenweem, where we stopped for a quick lunch at The Larachmohr Tavern then a walk along the shore up to the small beach.

We had a quick look round Anstruther – bigger and busier than the other villages we visited – I can imagine it gets really busy here in the summer! We stopped for yummy ice cream before heading off to our last stop of the day.

Crail was the final village of the day and we spent a little while exploring the cosy little harbour and admiring the gardens before heading home (via Barnsmuir Farm Shop where we got the tastiest fruit punnets) for a good sleep after all that sea air! A lovely day out spent with the best people (although if I’d been told when I was wee that I would be going for days out like this with my big brothers, I’d have never believed it!). I’ll definitely be back to this part of the world to explore and photograph in more detail.
